September is right around the corner and we’re getting ready! Apologies for the silence on this blog over the summer; vacation has been taken in full. But now the wheels are moving again and we want to let you know about some exciting stuff that’s coming up.
The Sunday Shortstack is reopening on September 9th! Our hours will be back to normal – come find your flapjacks between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. We’re scheming on some general improvements (how to get you your food faster, how to make everything more delicious), so stay tuned.
We’ll be kicking off the season with classic flapjacks with blackberry jam and tunes by Compassion Gorilla. Give their stuff a listen ahead of time here. More info on the opening ‘stack will be up here soon!
We’ve got so many treats on their way for you, including a plethora of summer jams (like plum thyme, rosemary rhubarb, and blackberry plum), zucchini bread pancakes, and lots of fancy jarred preserves to purchase. We’ll also be opening up the Shortstack stage once a month to folks who want to jam (like play music, not crush berries), which is something we’ve been wanting to do for a while and are super excited to be offering this time around. One of our favourite librarians, Myron Groover, will be there every time to lead the jam when it needs leading, and provide some instruments and song inspiration. If you’ve wanted to try playing in front of a crowd but are usually too shy, this is a great way to do it. We’re hoping to hold the jam the last Sunday of every month. Try it out in September and see what you think!
That’s all for now, but you can bet there will be more soon.
